There’s no hard and fast rule but, as a guide, your chandelier should be around 12 inches narrower than your kitchen island and hang roughly 30-36 inches above it. This can vary depending on the size of your kitchen.

Chandeliers range from traditional crystal and candle designs to more contemporary styles using metal and glass. It often boils down to personal preference and whether you want your lighting to complement your existing interior.

What kind of light bulbs work in a chandelier?
